Beachview Beauty 50 steps to a private beach! BYOT

Positive: The location was absolutely perfect and wonderful. Steps from the beach and a breath taking view from the house especially from the wrap around d porch. Negative: Floors were dirty our feet turned black had to purchase swifter mop and mopped floors (thought this was important since host pays for cleaning service ) The front door is all glass and no privacy shade so we pulled a sheet off the one of the guests bed and used it to cover the door. The master bed broke day 2 right bottom side popped off so mattress was slanted. We still slept in it because the other beds were too small for us to sleep in. Occasional sewer smell through out stay. Not horrible but definitely noticeable and was a daily occurrence. Garbage disposal switch would not work it would short circuit and spark (fire hazard) kitchen sink clogged. Ceiling above rectangle table leaked during rainy day. Same day it rained bugs started appearing in house (that night prior to check out. We almost wanted to leave that night due to the bugs.) Everything listed didn't happen all at once and when they occurred they weren't deal breakers but when the bugs appeared we definitely wanted to leave but we killed avout 10 of ant like winged bugs and the stopped coming in since the rain stopped. We would come again everything gets fixed. Overall we had a great time at the location and the beach was pretty and away from tourists. I especially enjoyed the porch. We would recommend for location and property but needs good maintenance especially for safety concerns.

We are from Houston but live in London, England. We’ve stayed at this beach house two summers in a row. It’s a lovely place with great access to the beach and easy drive onto the sea wall and downtown Galveston. It’s perfect for short and long term stays. Highly recommend!
